Issued under Article 20 paragraph (j) of the law of Yarmouk University No. 25 of 1985 Instructions No. 6 of 2011 under the decision of the Board of Deans in Session No. 13/2011, which was held on 21/3/2011 Instructions of the chair of Samir Shama to the history of coins and Islamic civilization in the Department of Antiquities Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology, Yarmouk University.
A special council has been established under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Yarmouk University President, who is responsible for setting the general policies of the Chair in the fields of teaching, research and missions, supervising and organizing them in accordance with the university regulations and instructions, supervising Waqf and developing it and controlling its expenses.
The waqf consists of the amounts deposited by the late Samir Shamma and the amounts deposited by the heirs of the deceased in a special account at the university and a collection of important and rare Islamic coins, and a collection of books on coins and the history of Islamic civilization, which was deposited by the late in a library of the university.
Samir Shama's chair established a magazine specialized in coins called "Yarmouk Magazine for Coins", a specialized scientific magazine issued by the Department of Archeology at the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology at the University of Yarmouk and funded by the proceeds of the endowment of the late Samir Shamma, and supervised by the Editorial Board to prepare the magazine and supervise the issuance and control Expenses. The Commission oversees the excellence of published research and supervises the distribution of the series.
The Department of Archeology at the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology also sought to establish the Samir Shama building to include a museum of metalwork and teaching halls, which will study the history of Islamic coins and civilization. The college established a museum hall for coins, which was opened in 2002 under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II to include a presentation of the history of coins from its inception until the modern era. It was financed by the proceeds of the endowment of Samir Shama at Yarmouk University. The museum's display was enriched by the purchase of collections of coins from the Waqf account to fill the shortage of museum exhibits.
The Council of the Chair under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. President of the University or appointing him and in 2016/2017 re-formed the chair of the Shamma of the Department of Societies and Human civilization headed by Prof. Dr. Ziad al-Saad / Vice-President of the University of Yarmouk Academic Affairs and membership of: Prof. Dr. Ziad Saleh Zoubi Dean of Faculty of Arts and Professor Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Hakban, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology, Dr. Jabr Mohammed Miseeb Al-Khatib, Head of History Department, Ms. Maha Shama, daughter of the late Samir Shamma, Dr. Hassan Al-Ziyoud, the National Bank of Coins Museum, Dr. Atef Mohammed Saeed Al-Shayab, Board of Directors.
